Demographics
The population is predominantly Khalkha Mongols (86%), with Kazaks (6%) and about a dozen other Mongolian ethnic groups.
Languages and Religion
Languages spoken include Mongolian, Kazakh, Russian, and Chinese. English is widely spoken in Ulaanbaatar. Major religions are Tibetan Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, and Shamanism.

The literacy rate in Mongolia is 82.9%.
