Political System
Mongolia is a parliamentary republic. The President, elected for four years, is currently Battulga Khaltmaa (elected in 2017). The Prime Minister, appointed by the State Great Khural for four years, is Mr. Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrain (appointed in 2021).
Legislature and Judicial System
The unicameral State Great Khural (Parliament) has 76 members elected for four years. The last election was in 2016. The judicial system includes the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, aimag and capital city courts, and soum and district courts.
Administrative Structure
Mongolia is a unitary state divided into 21 aimags and a capital city, further subdivided into soums and districts.
